She is a member of the Writer’s Union and the Greek Musical and Drama Critics Union.
Ένα Allons enfants de
… για την
ψυχική μας υγεία Είναι τυχαίοι μερικοί χώροι όπου έγιναν τα γυρίσματα;
De halvanhet.
cheminots morts pour la patrie. Aux armes, citoyens !

WE
WANT TO KEEP ON DANCING By Anthoula Daniil Rendered by Vassilis C. Militsis An artistic event
lies within History Hegel commented on Beethoven’s 9th
Symphony. Nous, on veut continuer à
danser encore Nous sommes des oiseaux de
passage We want to keep on dancing See our thoughts embrace our
bodies Live our lives on a chord
grid We want to keep on dancing See our thoughts embrace our
bodies Live our lives on a chord
grid We are birds of passage Never docile nor really wise We do not pledge allegiance
to no man We are always coming at dawn
in any event, We are coming to break the
silence Among a host of other things that the song Danser encore [written by Kaddour Hadadi aka HK.] was meant to
say, it actually started as an anti-covid attitude. It was written on
December 20, 2020. It was called A Hymn
to Spring and united all those who claim the right to life, to freedom
and to cultural expression. The revolutionary On lâche rien followed suit, which was spread throughout
France and Europe, and even outside the continent. All the singing and
dancing events have been uploaded on the internet exceeding one million
views. With its repeated refrain it sounds endless: Nous on veut continuer
à danser encore [We want to keep on dancing See our thoughts embrace our
bodies Live our lives on a chord
grid We want to keep on dancing] A site video reveals a group of friends in a city
singing on a balcony of a house, and at a distance some island masses emerge
from the sea; the landscape suggests
Attica and not Corfu, according
to Elytis, but the specific balcony recalls the balcony over the Mediterranean
in the poem The Marble Table, which
evoked Greece and her people in general. The video showed Marseilles, which
justifies that a century before Albert Camus and Odysseus Elytis had been
inspired by it to create a magazine – Empedocles
– the subject matter of which would be the Mediterranean light. The
chorus of the singing and dancing reactions was also joined by more French
towns, with beautiful young men and women, who had not been dressed at
Dior’s, had not been perfumed with Chanel
and had not been coiffed at Alexandre’s – neither haute couture, nor parfumes, nor haute coiffure. They were ordinary
people, casually dressed, perfumed and kempt, set apart from those odd men
out with their famous French elegance; they were people come straight from
their work, the day’s toil untidy and unkempt – both indigenous and alien,
colored people dressed in bizarre clothes denoting a very distant origin.
However, all beamed with lust for life – young men carrying their kids on
their backs, young moms holding their babies in their arms or pushing others
in prams, while more kids hopping among the legs of grownups, thus signifying
the child-time that hurries on overtaking the adults. Amidst this emotionally rebelling throng, resembling the mob that started marching and singing from Marseilles to Paris 232 years ago, I should say that I discerned at the barricades that Delacroix heroine, but also the other one on the backs of her fellow students in May 68. Then citizens were carrying guns, but now they carry musical instruments singing, dancing and giving vent to the happy screams of people alive, saying NO to death, saying NO to interdiction. They were those who had been considered ‘not necessary’ factors of the theater…However, they are indispensable for life to go on; that is why the kids flooded the streets and the squares… All this miscellaneous crowd of citizens and artists, the typical accordion prevailing all over the place along with every kind of stringed, wind and percussion musical instruments, tried to do what it could with hands, feet and voice. March 4, 2021, Gare du Nord, the chic Parisian citoyens belonged to another bourgeois category. The same was true at Gare de l'Est, April 8, 2021 as well as at Odéon and Brussels, where there were a great number of immigrants. Everyone sang and danced pour la culture. In this location, through a fisheye lens effect, the piazza appeared to bulge outwards creating the illusion that the houses tilted and embraced those on the opposite side, the monuments bent and curved rendering the mob a singing ring. In Switzerland, the singer with the top hat and his
blonde mane (copying Klaus Kinski in a weary and mature version), the
handsome villain, was coming back from For
a Few Dollars More. Without exaggeration, I
would say that this song is the equivalent of Schiller’s Ode an
die Freude in Beethoven’s 9th
Symphony, composed some years after the blood stained Napoleonic Wars. Since
each epoch has its own weapons to fight death and oppression, so has ours all
those accordions and the rest of Art’s instruments, which become drugs to numb
the wound at least for a little while, according to C. P. Cavafy [Melancholy
Of Jason Kleander, Poet In Kommagini, A.D.. 595] On
zooming in, you have distinguished your idols, the fresh faces that want to
live, to dance together with the people, indiscriminately, applying the
precept Liberté,
Fraternité, Egalité, not only by the
contemporary sans
culottes
but also by the well-to-do citizens in a single dance.
